Step 1: Describe your cartoon and state when and why it was done.
Step 2:
1. List the objects or people you see in the cartoon.
2. Locate three words or phrases used by the cartoonist to identify
objects or people within the cartoon (assuming the cartoon has words).
3. Record any important dates or numbers that appear in the cartoon.
Step 3:
1. Which of the objects on your cartoon appear to be most significant?
Why do you think so? Which words or phrases?
2. What do you think each symbol means? Describe the emotions portrayed
in your cartoon.
Step 4:
A. Describe the action taking place in the cartoon.
B. Explain how the words in the cartoon clarify the symbols.
C. Explain the message of the cartoon.
D. What special interest groups would agree/disagree with the cartoon’s
message? Why?
Your analysis should be 1 to 3 typewritten (double spaced) pages in
length, and 10 or 12 font only. Attach
a copy of the cartoon or a link to it and make sure it relates to the
time period and content of your class.
