COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT
1. Purpose: You are to develop and maintain a weekly blog to practice and demonstrate your writing skills, reflectivity and ability for critical thinking.
2. D

a. You are required to send your blog URL to me via email (sheri.landry@msvu.ca) on or before the date specified on moodle / course outline. Test your blog URL and, ask a friend to test it before you send it to me. You are responsible for ensuring your blog post URL is functional. If your blog URL is not functional and you miss a blog post because of this, you will have no opportunity to receive credit for that blog post.
b. Each blog post is due on the Wednesday identified on Moodle, at 11.59pm. Any missed blog posts cannot be made up.
3. Maximum Grade: Each blog post is worth 2.5% of your final grade for this course. There are 10 blog posts for a total of 25%.
4. What to do:
a. You will develop a blog and regularly post to it using a (free) site such as blogger.com, blog.com, or wordpress.com, etc. If you experience technical issues in setting up your blog, please see or email (helpdesk@msvu.ca) the IT Help Desk.
? Each week a topic will be assigned for you to write about. Blog topics are noted below.
? All posts must be new material, written from scratch. You cannot post writings that you have done in the past. Any suspected or confirmed cases of plagiarism will be handled in accordance to University Calendar guidelines, see section on “Integrity” in the course outline.
? Your blog should be professional in appearance and content. It should be something that you would be proud to show a potential employer.
b. You are to reflect on the topics outlined below and offer your thoughts and opinion on the subject matter in question. Ask yourself these questions before you blog:
? Do you agree or disagree with some aspect of the topic of presented?
? Do you feel that it was communicated effectively, or appropriately?
c. Your post must demonstrate that you have:
? Studied the material presented to you using active listening skills
? Reflected on it, and asked yourself: what does this mean and how does this impact me, what did I learn from this?
? Think critically about it: was this message communicated as effectively as it could have been? Do I agree or disagree with this? How do I feel about the assumptions upon which the information is based?
