Compare/Contrast Essay- Assignment 4
Students will write a 3-4 page MLA style paper. Select one of the themes (e.g., self-efficacy, power and leadership) of the course and readings and compare and contrast the characterization of these themes in the readings. Ideas such as the following could be considered: What are the overlapping themes? What notions of self does each of these writers suggest? What makes these works different? Here you might consider such elements as belief systems or overcoming obstacles? What are the contributing factors? Use specific passages from the text to support your position.
Students must include a topic sentence, appropriate transitions, a concluding paragraph, and works cited page. Citations must be used throughout the entire essay. There will be a point deducted for each grammatical and MLA error.

1. Students will use Peer Edit to edit a peer’s paper.
Please submit a copy of the peer edit with the final copy of your paper. A hard copy of the paper and the peer edit is due at the beginning of class.

2. The final copy of the paper must be submitted to Livetext before class begins. Students will receive a 5 point deduction if it is not submitted before class time on the due date as well as 5 points a day for each day the assignment is not turned in.

• Students can use Inspiration Maps to brainstorm & outline the essay, pulling together all their sources.

• Students can use Inspiration Maps to turn the map into an outline, and edit the outline by moving items, and by deleting and adding ideas on the map. Students can then write the essay.

-Students can use the Dictionary app to find synonyms for repeated words.
