Project description
Discuss the different perspectives of egoism as it relates to ethics. Share your thoughts on sociological and cultural relativism as they relate to ethics. For example, the Western culture in which most of us live generally approves of eating meat. But many persons within that culture belong to groups opposed to eating at least some forms of meat: Jainists oppose all meat eating; Muslims and Jews abhor pork. If I am a relativist, living in Texas, and am also a Jainist, and I refuse to eat barbecued ribs, have I done something wrong? Would I be doing something wrong from a cultural relativist’s perspective whether I refused ribs or not?
