This is a Special Education Masters level class.

Instructions:

This assignment contains two parts as you assume the respective roles of a parent and a teacher.

Before beginning, please read "Examining Parents’ Involvement in and Perceptions of Special Education Services: An Interview with Families in a Parent Support Group" by Sammy J. Spann, Frank W. Kohler, and Delann Soenksen. (I will upload it for you)

Part 1: Parents Welcome Survey (I have completed this part, I just need you to look it over to do part 2)

Review all the information I have on Helena Martin and then fill out part of the following family welcome questionnaire as though you were Helena’s parents: "Family Welcome Questionnaire".(I will upload the completed form to go by) Use the information I gleaned from Helena’s materials and what I have learned about her in this course to complete the questionnaire. Part 2: Letter to Parents

Now, assume the role of Helena’s teacher and determine the best way to communicate with Helena’s parents. To do this, write a letter to her parents using the strategies that would prove successful for this and further interactions. Be sure to discuss Helena’s strengths above all other information.

Guidelines:

1.) Your letter should be brief. About one page should be adequate.

I will upload the filled out survey you need to go by for the letter along with the article you can read if you want a better understanding of this assignment. Also, I gave you the link to the students profile above to use if you want more information.

There doesn’t need to be any sources or references used for this short 1 page letter. Only the information I have provided.
