1. An 18-month-old patient who attends daycare and has been camping over the weekend presents with acute diarrhea in the clinic Monday at 8 a.m. Discuss the components

of the assessment. Develop a management plan, including both traditional and complementary modalities. Provide guidelines for the child’s return to daycare.

2. A 7-month-old infant presents for an office visit to the clinic for spitting up and occasional fussiness. After a history of clinical symptoms from the mother and a

physical examination, the FNP diagnoses the infant with gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). The mother is opposed to giving the baby any medications. Describe the

management plan for making the infant more comfortable and possibly decreasing the occurrences of spitting up. After 2 weeks of trying the suggestions, the mother

returns and states that the baby is no better and seems fussier after spitting up. Now is the time for pharmacological interventions. What is the plan for treatment

and follow-up for this patient?
