Product Design

A Product Design Specification (PDS) is an analytical, coherent way of defining the boundaries of a new project or product.

For this task , consider a hand-held product that you actually own.

Imagine you are a ?Product Manager? and are required to define the improved version of that product for launch in 2016 . You need to outline the specification that the design team will use when selecting whoch concept to take forward . In answering the 32 PDS points you will clearly, and accurately, define the next, improved version of the product.

Photograph the initial product as a reference and then quantitatively answer the 32 points raised in the PDS; most importantly define the first five points:

? Performance
? Life in Service
? Maintenance
? Target Product Cost
? Competition
You may use ?N/A – not applicable? in some categories ? but please note, if you do that for too many points… and cop out … your marks will naturally refect this.

Write up your findings with at least three pages within your Technology Portfolio ? date and title these pages ?PDS?.
