Assignment: Annotated Bibliography Purpose: Annotated bibliographies provide the reader with a summary and an evaluation of each source you have utilized for your research topic. Each summary gives the reader a concise explanation of the source’s central idea(s) and gives the reader a general idea of the sources content. Instructions: Students are to write an annotated bibliography using three academic journal articles. All articles will come from the Magnolia Project data base. If you were writing a research paper you would chose a topic and select articles that support that topic. Therefore, your three academic journal articles will be on the same topic. The topic and your articles must be on U. S. After finding and reading your three academic journals and reading the above information on annotated bibliographies perform the following: • Cite each article using correct MLA ed. 8 formatting. • Following each citation write a three paragraph annotation on the article. • Each annotation must be a minimum of three paragraphs. Each paragraph must be a minimum of five complete sentences. Format: Your annotated bibliography will have three articles from scholarly journals. Each article’s annotation will have three paragraphs. Paragraph (1) will be a summary of the article including the main points of the article. Paragraph (2) will be an assessment of the article as to its usefulnessas a source. Paragraph (3) will offer a reflection as to the article’s helpfulness in shaping your argument for your paper, possibly how it changed how you think about your topic. Grading rubric:Students that turn in a well-written annotated bibliography listing three articles, properly cited, with each annotation having three paragraphs containing the information identified in the Format section of these instructions will receive a grade of 100. Partial credit may be awarded for attempting the assignment but not reaching the criteria for a 100. The minimum requirements for this assignment are: citations for three articles from a credible academic journal and a three paragraph annotation for each article. Assignments not meeting the minimum requirements will be given a grade of 0. NOTE: The Annotated Bibliography assignment is a research element of the course and will comprise 10% of your overall class grade.
