Difference Between Federal Court System and the State Court Systems

In your last assignment, you distinguished between the federal court system and the state court systems. This is a fundamental understanding that is important in the United States legal profession. It is also important to understand the distinction between a criminal case and civil case, in either court system. In many instances, you find criminal courts of law and civil courts of law separated from each other. This assignment will showcase the differences between the two types of legal action. For this assignment you will be drafting a short essay.
This essay should discuss at least three key points of distinction between civil and criminal cases. One key point should be the parties and their roles in the cases. Another great point of distinction is the level of proof required in a criminal case compared to that required in a civil case. There are constitutional implications that are specifically designed to protect one in criminal proceedings that do not apply in a similar civil case. There are several more distinctions that could easily be explored here as well. Please limit your discuss to no more than 5 points of distinction.
Please bring in examples of a criminal or civil case to further illustrate your point. You have discussed several different cases in the prior units, all which might be used as examples. Remember to check back in Units 4 and 6 as a resource.
