Situation, Audience, and Purpose

No unread replies.No replies.

Some people believe that situations dictate the kind of speaking a person can do, placing constraints on what that person can say and on how he or she can say it; others believe that speakers have the power to create situations through their speaking. In your view, which is more often true? In this discussion, you and your classmates will explore public speaking as a relationship between speaker and audience.

In your initial post, explain in 200-250 words which side you would take in the question noted above (you may play devil’s advocate if you wish). You should provide examples or explanation that comes from your own personal outside research. Cite every outside source you use, including your readings.
