Now that you have both read and viewed this truly entertaining play, please consider this question: is all the drama in this play really Baptista’s fault?

Kate’s final speech (5.2.140-184) is generally considered the key to any reading of this play. Kate’s speech appears to signal her acceptance of her subordinate role as Petruchio’s wife. In other words, Petruchio has won; he has successfully tamed Kate. Is this the only way, however, to read this speech? Has Kate been tamed?
