Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is so that students can evaluate the lean techniques applied to business in today’s workforce.
Note: Students and Faculty seeking more information on this assignment can reflect on Operations and Supply Chain Management: Ch. 14.

Content Comments: Evaluation Grade
Select a business you are familiar with which incorporates lean manufacturing or lean supply chains. [Points 15] If you are having difficulty identifying an appropriate target company try a search on “Examples of businesses using LEAN concepts”. One of the You Tubes you will find is = https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmi-lHRn4C_HLaSG259WylwfCeK6JByc6 = with 19 examples.
Evaluate how this firm uses lean strategies and how much lean techniques have improved the firm’s efficiency. [Points 15] An ‘evaluation’ includes examples of LEAN initiatives, and the benefits derived from them. Use 3 – 5 examples.
Evaluate ways the firm can go even further to make improvements using lean techniques. [Points 15] Using your experience and research provide examples [3 – 5] of LEAN techniques that would benefit your chosen organization.
Use the learnings obtained from evaluating this firm to apply to your own business or a business you are interested in which currently does not use lean techniques. [Points 15] Provide examples of how any of the LEAN initiatives you have identified might be used to benefit your occupation, or personal experience.
Develope a 1,050-word report describing your lean evaluation project.
