Book Report – Students will read “Pilgrim’s Progress” in whatever version they desire and note how this book addresses evangelistic and disciple-making methodologies for the local church today. Students will then complete an eight page book report (not including cover sheet and bibliography) explaining: (1) How the book engages with the subject of church evangelistic and disciple-making strategies, (2) What strategies might be developed to use the book as a disciple making tool, (3) How the book impacted the student’s thinking regarding evangelism and disciple-making within his/her context (the local Christian, Southern Baptist church).

Course Description
This course investigates the various methodologies and philosophies being espoused throughout the world by which churches mobilize for evangelistic purposes. Strengths and weaknesses are discussed with a view to developing a church evangelistic methodology within the student’s ministry culture and context.
Course Rationale
The Gospel does not change. However, methodologies for sharing the Gospel may change given the church’s context. Understanding the church’s willingness to engage in evangelistic activities is the first step toward developing systems that promote sharing the Gospel. Exploring what other churches have done allows the student to determine if such practices are biblically sound and appropriate for his/her context.
