Students are required to present the language situation of a particular polity. This can be their own polity or one that they are
familiar with or are interested in. Taking an ecological view, they will describe the various languages and varieties and their
current situation in the polity. This will call for taking a historical perspective. There are many examples of polity stuides in the
LPP literature. Yan (2016) has been included as one example in the readings so students may understand what sorts of the topics they should include in their presentation.
