As the project management team it will be your job to design and develop a new Research Institute at the University of Sydney that will be a world leader in understanding how to create sustainable and healthy communities.
Your client (Sabina) would like the Research Institute facilities to be second to none, including the first building in Sydney to achieve a 6 Star Green Star – Education PILOT Certified Rating for design by the Green Building Council of Australia.
I would like you to come up with an innovative, unique and exciting building.
However I do have a few rules that are non-negotiable:
The building itself has to minimised energy consumption through the use of natural light and mixed mode ventilation. It has to rely less on the local water supply by utilising water tanks and a grey water recycling systems. I want the building to extensively utilise recycled materials, including recycled timber and loose furniture, as well as low-emission paints and environmentally friendly carpets.
The Research Institute facilities have to offer 5 large classrooms, 35 offices, 3 conference rooms, 1 laboratory and 1 large lecture theatre (that has 500 seats).
Remember this Research Institute has to be second to none, including the first building in Sydney to achieve a 6 Star Green Star – Education PILOT Certified Rating for design by the Green Building Council of Australia.
As the project management team it is your job to do the planning, certification, commissioning, design and development of this project.
I believe that the overall timeframe for the project should be no more than 3.5 years and I am giving you no more than 9 million to complete this project.
