You are part of the international strategic acquisitions team at your company–UPS. Work on the proposal for an acquisition
1) Opportunities for your company: Use a SWOT analysis to determine the areas of potential acquisition and identify 3 suitable targets (not necessarily in the same industry)
2) Assessment: Chose the best target based on strategic fit (company’s current strategic goals and priorities, look at website: presentations and annual report), political risk (see chapter 10 and earlier work on political risk) and opportunity to acquire (ie company’s willingness to sell or inability to block acquisition through public offering)
3) Recommend a negotiation strategy and early approach of the company based on ownership structure and company/national culture
