• Too many strategic factors?Possibly a lack of considered analysis. Action: Review the and ask yourself, are these really separate factors or are really connected issues?
• Failure to prioritise factorsAction: Present issues in a table form, are they truly significant?
• Failure to review current firm financials and bring up to date: Action: Do notleave research until the last minute.
• Consistency problemsremember Problems? Cause ? Solutions. Now work backwards. Do my solutions address the underlying causes and will they have a significant impact on the problems the organisation has?
• Failure to develop a plan or set or recommendations and advice on implementation. Action: Make sure you cover this element, even though I would expect it is less well developed than your analysis for reasons given in class. You have to address enough, however, to show your strategic insight – remember the brief is that you are pitching your analysis to get a contract to do an in depth strategic plan.
