General Chemistry II, CHM 1023, Writing Assignment
In the Bluefield College library is a book titled, “The 100 Most Important Chemical Compounds” by Richard L Myers. Please do not check the book out in consideration of your classmates (e-book is available through the library catalog), and do not wait until the last minute to try to read it!
Look through the table of contents, and select several compounds that are most interesting to you. Read those chapters in the book, and as you read note the reasons why these compounds were included in the book. Select the one most fascinating compound on which to write the paper.
Write a personal response to the information and assertions of the author about the one compound, addressing issues such as why you found some facts interesting, troubling, or strange. Note vocabulary and concepts you don’t understand, and research definitions until you do. Do you feel the author exaggerated the importance of the compound? Support your responses with other sources as necessary.
The total length of the paper should be from 2 to 3 pages (numbered bottom center) in length, titled, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font with 1 inch margins. Include references, but they are not part of the page count. Use ACS Style for references, which use superscript numbers in the text and then a numbered list at the end. Do not use author names in parentheses.
Please submit the work through MyBC, CHM 1023, Coursework, Paper, An Important Compound. Upload your freshly saved file.
