5) Who or what is given agency?
6) How did the filmmakers position the audience?
7) How did the panel strengthen or alter your understanding of the film? (e.g., what ideas or positions didit help you engage with
more depth?; what connections did it help you make?)
8) Relate your arguments to theories and concepts we have studied in class.
9) Cite at least 3 sources coming from newspapers, environmental organization, book or journal articles.
Writing tips (for “A” paper):
o Take clear and complete notes during the screening. This will allow you to keep track of and
describe key images, important scenes, “experts” names and titles and other elements of the film.
o Craft an opening paragraph that leads to a specific and precisely formulated thesis that anticipatesthe main points of the
argument you make in the rest of the essay.
o Be sure that your topic sentences reflect a logical development of that thesis.
o Create smooth transitions between paragraphs and sentences.
o Be sure paragraphs cohere into a guiding idea.
o General or abstract observations should be supported with concrete examples.
o Carefully proofread and revised for grammatical, spelling, and typographical errors.
o Citations and quotations been double-checked for accuracy and proper placement?
