The question is ‘With reference to the movies ‘Passchendaele’ (2008) and ‘All Quiet On Western Front’ (1930), discuss how the Great War has been represented on film’
I have attached the marking criteria in addition to the reading list and module themes.
I ask that the essay be a comparative one that is broken down into and focuses on the following themes-
– War Enthusiasm
– The Home Front and Popular Culture
– Shell-Shock and Medicine
– Combat, Morale and Mutiny. (Brutality) Important to not get lost in the detail, but see how these themes connects to wider picture, the representation of The Great War on film.
– Reflective comparison not total one.
– Mention Britain, France and Germany but not necessarily in equal measure.
