Details and Expectations
Concert reviews and attendance at these events are designed to give you a more indepth and wider variety of percussion experiences. Your assignment will
be based
on one of the concerts listed in the “Approved Concert Review List” on
Blackboard. After attending the concert, write a 2-page paper that satisfies the
following:
The goal of your paper is to provide a detailed account of the performance.
This includes the name of the ensemble, the instrumentation, the
techniques used while playing these instruments, the kind of music that
was played, and any other information you feel is appropriate. In addition
to these key aspects, please compare and contrast the ensemble and its
music to the percussion and drumming we have studied in class. Finally,
include your personal opinion of the concert: did you enjoy the music,
why/why not? Be detailed and specific.
Grading will be based on the quantity/quality of the above tasks, as well as the
Form and Structure/Style and Language portions in the “Writing Rubric”. Please
submit your paper via email as a PDF document.
