An intervention paper will serve as the culminating assignment in the Adolescent Psychology course.
This assignment asks that students apply concepts and research to real-world adolescent case studies
and design developmentally appropriate interventions to address the presented academic, social, and/or
emotional concerns. The intervention paper should be 5-7 double-spaced pages (content-only, does not
include cover page and resources). The paper should be written and formatted in APA style (although you
do not have to include an abstract). For more information and examples of APA style, visit Columbia
College’s Stafford Library Citation page.
What Is Required
Section 1 – Overview
This section of your paper should provide an overview of the adolescent, the family, and the behaviors
that are seen as problematic. Provide examples of how the behavior may manifest itself at school and at
home. In your descriptions, be sure to incorporate adolescent psychology terminology and concepts,
provide specific details, and show deep thinking about the issues within the case study.
Section 2 – Proposed Interventions
In this section, you will need to propose at least 3 interventions for the home and 3 interventions at
school to address the problem behaviors. You will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of
developmentally and culturally appropriate interventions with a clear connection to theory and
research.
Section 3 – Recommendations
Lastly, provide a list of recommendations for both teachers and parents to further assist the
adolescent both at home and at school that are culturally sensitive. Recommendations should be based on
adolescent psychology theories and easily be transferred between home and school.
