Literature & Film, comparison and contrast paper examining themes from textbook.
Choose any TWO chapters in the text book that are of particular interest or importance to you that you find depicted in any of the films we have examined and also short stories or novels (Fahrenheit 451 is permissible) that the professor will recommend. So, you will use any combination of 3 course film, 2 course film and one story, 2 story and one course film, or 3 stories. The point is that you will build your paper on 3 separate pieces of film and/or literature used to examine or make vivid or provide examples that help to explain or otherwise depict the ideas developed from TWO separate chapters from the textbook.
I WILL GO WITH THE PROFESSOR’S EXAMPLE LISTED BELOW:
For example…You might use Local Hero (1983 British comedy-drama film written and directed by Bill Forsyth) and Crash (2004 crime drama film co-written, produced, and directed by Paul Haggis) from the class combined with Fahrenheit 451 (book) to examine how community form can take different shapes (Chapter 6) and also how metropolitan community imposes unique pressures on people (Chapter 7). I WILL UPLOAD CHAPTERS 6 AND 7. AS FOR THE MOVIES LOCAL HERO AND CRASH AND THE BOOK FAHRENHEIT 451 HOW WILL YOU HAVE ACCESS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
This assignment will be graded in terms of how faithfully students identify themes from the two textbook chapters they choose, and how the student identifies these themes as they are expressed or depicted in the stories/film examined. Papers should present an introductory (thesis) paragraph in which students clearly indicate the themes they will explore in the body of the paper as well as the stories/film being used. The body of the paper should include references to key elements from each story/film that exemplify the textbook themes the student has chosen to explore. Each paper must also present a concluding paragraph that helps to summarize and synthesize the points broad up in the paper.
